Print Queue Manager 4.0 - Preview Posted Mon, 01 Mar 2010 01:39:00 +1000 by Chris
Print Queue Manager 4 is coming soon.

It is not easy being green, a frog once said, but it can save you money. The new 'green', literally, Print Queue Manager will help you manage your print queues better minimising waste by ensuring you only print what you need. Want to prove it? Use the inbuilt statistics and logging to capture and review your page savings.

This is a development preview of version 4.

Key Features:

  • Favourites to remember queue settings for multiple queues
  • Automatic Activation option for AutoRelease for multiple printers
  • Configurable interface with larger job list.
  • New job list only view with touchscreen friendly quick action menu
  • Adjustable Polling Rates
  • Print savings statistics
  • Log file with CSV export option

Thanks to your suggestions I have made lots of fixes and improvements and the interface has had a complete overhaul.
The ability to manage Multiple Queues easily has been missed and I look forward to improving this even more in the future.
Licencing is still to be implemented but all features from existing versions will be free with new features restricted to 'Pro' licenced users.Pro licencing will be under $AUD10.

Feedback or suggestions welcome. Christian.

Print Queue Manager - Next Gen Posted Sun, 21 Feb 2010 20:22:00 +1000 by Chris
I am currently working on the next major version of Print Queue Manager designed to help users managing multiple print queues and to provide statistics and detailed logging to easily identify savings from better print queue management and to assist in identifying high print volume users. This next version is most likely going to be a commercial release (shareware with limited features for unlicenced users) but licences will be cheap. The reason for this is to provide funding to ensure I can continue to provide regular updates and fixes and new versions moving forward. If you have any suggestions for fixes or features for the next release please let me know. I am hoping to have the next version available in a few months. Some features already planned or developed include: * Favourites - Save your favourite print queues and settings so you can jump easily between them. * Statistics - Highlight print savings from using PQM * Logging - Detailed print logging to enable analysis of print savings, high volume users and daily volumes. Logs can be exported to CSV for Excel. * Improved interface - Larger job queue, cleaner layout, configurable features (e.g. Show/Hide Update checker) * Settings - Better control over settings including queue refresh rate and job queue font size. Looking forward to your feedback.

NEW Software Releases - Feature Requests needed!! Posted Mon, 08 Feb 2010 01:05:00 +1000 by Chris

I have recently released updates to:

  • Lookup
  • MediaCentre
  • Print Queue Manager

All three now have a new installer, an updated help guide and will sit nicely together in your start menu and on your Windows 7 PC.

I have also included some feature updates to Print Queue Manager and MediaCentre both in response to feature requests.  All of the requests I have received recently have now been resolved in new features, so I am looking for more. Play with my software and tell me what you think, what would you do better?

Print Queue Manager 3.0.9 is NOW AVAILABLE!!! Posted Sun, 07 Feb 2010 00:04:00 +1000 by Chris

I have released an update for Print Queue Manager.

The new version includes an installer and now supports Windows 7.

This release resolved a feature request from Marcello. I have removed delete from the clear settings option and have used delete and shift delete to control the removal of jobs as a user would expect. To ensure no jobs are accidentally deleted I have also added a confirmation message to both delete options.

More Information

Only 2 owners. Always garaged.
ST183 motor same as Australian MR2.
Black tonneau cover for electric roof (rarely used).
New radiator, timing belt, water pump, alternator belt, power steering belt, thermostat, tensioner bearing, idle bearing, radiator hoses and full service (December 2009).
Alternator/Tyres (12 months old).

This has been my daily driver for three years and is an excellent car. Its great looks, especially with the top down shows off its ageless styling. It has always been garaged and the body is in good condition and is a beautiful metallic blue with the dark blue canvas roof with matching blue number plates. The interior is in reasonable condition with a few scratches expected with its age. I have had little trouble with it as it has Toyota¿s great build quality and reliability. It is great fun to drive and a breeze to park with 4 wheel steering. It is fantastic for cruising the beaches on a beautiful Sydney summer afternoon with the top down and has encouraged 3 people I know to purchase convertibles. You won't go back to a normal car. It has low mileage for its age, and with the work done is ready to drive and enjoy. I am going to miss it greatly, but I have upgraded to a BMW convertible (the previous owner went to an Audi convertible).
I have only been running it on Premium 95 or 98 petrol.
Power and Manual buttons adjust fuel and gearing providing dramatic performance dfference. Electric tilt steering wheel, remote notification alarm (up to 1.5km), brand new Sony stereo, LED globes in parking and indicator lights. Factory fitted driving lights. Electric Mirrors with 'fold away' function.
The roof is in good condition. One of the roof handles that holds the roof down has a broken latch which I have not had a chance ot replace but I have an elastic tie. Should be easily repaired/replaced.
Electric Antenna is noisy but still works.
Air conditioning (works but needs gas - R12).

Go, Go Windows Gadget Posted Thu, 21 Jan 2010 15:07:00 +1000 by Chris

My application portal has now been fully implemented throughout the site and new applications and features are constantly appearing.

I took the opportunity to upgrade my Windows Gadget to be compatible with both Windows Vista and Windows 7. The new version is cleaner, with some new flyout menus and includes shortcuts to launch portal applications directly from your desktop.

Testing was undertaken on a Windows 7 netbook running a 800 x 600 screen. As a result I identified some display issues with my existing portal applications and Australian Shortcuts and Poker have now been updated to suit these small format screens.

I tried to include some of my non-installation programs in the gadget although only Time is Money is suitable for both Windows 7 and Vista. An installer for Print Queue Manager for Windows 7 is on my todo list.

Want to get the gadget? Get it from the portal!

Software Updates: Lookup and App Portal Posted Fri, 15 Jan 2010 01:16:00 +1000 by Chris

Yes, Lookup 8 is still coming but due to other commitments and the documentation of the user guide it is probably another few weeks away. The website changes are all part of the preparation for the new version.

The Application Portal is now the new starting point for software at chris.dunn.name.

New user friendly icons make it easy to find good, free software easily. Both online and offline applications are provided and links to all of my downloads and software are provided for those older applications I have not moved to the portal.

All applications are categorised to find easily:
Freeware
Shareware
Online (runs through browser)
Offline (downloadable application)
Requires Internet Connection
3rd Party Application

I hope you find the application portal the easy way to find my programs and it is only going to get better.
Works better with javascript and popups enabled.

Check it out here: http://www.chris.dunn.name/software/portal/

Thanks for all of the feature requests lately, great to hear people are using my software and enjoying it. Looks like I have some work to do this year!!

New Application Portal is live! Posted Thu, 24 Dec 2009 15:28:00 +1000 by Chris

The Application Portal is going to be the new way to find my applications, whether online/offline or traditional applications.

The portal will soon come with a development kit enabling you to write applications which I will post in the portal.

Currently the site is still undergoing testing and updating and not all programs are online yet, but I couldn't keep you waiting.

Merry Christmas!!
