Science communication involves the communication of science to a target audience. Determining the nature of your target audience and effectively communicating science to that audience is the crucial focus of this industry. As a result science communications can be just as effective in other industries ensuring that information whether technical, factual or emotional in content can be available and understandable to your desired target audience.
Is your business reaching it's target audience? Do your customers really understand you? Do you wish to reach a larger audience? Science Communication is the key to the effective communication of information and can be applied to any business, application, program or job. As the internet evolves and technology plays a larger part in day to day operations we are seeing a growing demand for complementary technologies. These are technologies that suit our daily lives or make our lives easier. To be able to do this requires an understanding of your wants, need and limitations and of course, your audience. Student Information This is a short documentary produced as a media production component of my Science Communication degree at UNSW. This is a good sample documentary for budding students. The documentary "A Brighter Future" looks at the future of solar energy. This site was originally bundled with the movie as a multimedia CD-rom. The Elixir Newsletter was a UNSW project to create a small newsletter to promote awareness of Science Communication and the degree. The subject for this first issue of the newsletter was Sex. The newsletter was entirely written, designed and produced by UNSW Science Communication subjects in 2002. It can be viewed below. I have included here some resources from UNSW Science Communication which will benefit any undergraduate students.
